Description :
Scenario Writer, in support of the Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at FORT Polk LA. Requires experience as a Foreign Service Officer at the mid or senior officer level. Recent Foreign Officer experience (within the last five years) in Iraq or Afghanistan.
This is a contingent position based on contract award.
General
The Mission of the JRTC is to conduct tough, realistic multi echelon joint and combined arms training to train leaders to deal with complex situations; to create flexible, skilled Soldiers; and to develop highly proficient, cohesive units capable of conducting operations across the full spectrum of military conflict. The JRTC executes 12-14 training rotations per year during which typical Operational Tempo requires 24/7 mission support of this Program Manager and his/her team. This includes involvement of Interagency functions, assets and resources as part of the scenario development and execution.
Position Description:
Interagency (IA) Scenario Writer/Integrator integrates Interagency functions into scenario development and execution. The candidate possesses a thorough knowledge of the Interagency process and involvement in contingency operations. This includes the capabilities, decision-making structure, and relationships between the interagency and military forces. The Interagency Scenario Writer maintains a thorough understanding of the geo-political environment when developing IA scenario integration to meet realistic scenario objectives in accordance with potential contingency operation requirements. The IA Scenario Writer/Integrator possesses a thorough understanding of best practices and issues with IA integration during OEF/OIF for scenario integration and implementation.
Required Skills:
Experience as a Foreign Service Officer at the mid or senior officer level.
Knowledgeable of Interagency issues to include Department of State (DoS) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) from Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom (OIF and OEF).
Understanding of Interagency relationships, organizations, capabilities, and contingency issues of the Departments of Justice, Agriculture, Commerce, Treasury, and Health and Human Services.
Familiarity with the United Nations, International Organizations, and Private Organizations involvement in contingency operations.
Recent Foreign Officer experience (within the last five years) in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Familiarity with military planning process and Interagency role in the development and execution of operational plans and strategy.
Ability to coordinate and synchronized efforts across all levels and types of commands and organization including combined, joint, service, and the interagency.
Strong briefing, speaking, and staff skills for preparation and presentation of products to senior leadership on a routine basis. Expert in MS Office products.
Extremely organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously, coordinate actions, and meet suspense's as required by the rotational schedule and exercise milestones.
Desired Skills;
Planning/Operations experience as a member of a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Required Education:
Must possess a current US SECRET clearance
