About the Position:
This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be extended up to a maximum of four years.
The surrounding community of Fort Polk is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano and Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria (45 miles northeast) and Lake Charles (55 miles south). The area is considered rural and includes Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities located nearby. Also, located near by are Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake and Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming

Using automated network and systems management (NSM) tools, performs proactive network analysis, fault isolation and management tasks related to the network supporting users (e.g., switches, routers, gateways, CSU/DSU, Fiber Optics/DSL/Cable Modems, Firewalls, Media Converters, Line Encryption Devices (TACLAN).
Monitors the performance of production networks, network devices, network software and executive software managed by the organization to reactively detect, isolate and correct incidents.
As a systems administrator perform a variety of functions in the areas of monitoring, reporting and supporting multiple servers on the Local Area Network (LAN). Identifies, reports, and coordinates the operational activities with NEC personnel while monitoring resources (I.E. LAN connectivity, system services, CPU, memory, etc).
Work closely with users, contract personnel, project coordinators and management to design output requirements, describe data elements, and define data flow of information.
Updates the physical configuration of enterprise network hardware and software to meet changing requirements, improve security and performance. This encompasses Internet Protocol (IP) address filtering, knowledge of Domain Name Service (DNS) configuration and system resource allocations of equipment used within continental United States. Technical software application products used include, but not limited to, the following products: BMC Remedy, Secure Shell, PuTTY, Spectrum OneClick, Cisco Prime, SharePoint, and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM).
Decipher, assign and implement Operational Order (OPORD), Fragmentation Order (FRAGO) and Technical Order (TO) tasks generated from the Fort Polk Installation, and the NEC chain of command (106TH Signal BDE & 7TH Signal Command).

Experience required:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: developing, testing, managing and implementing new or modified application software and associated database systems. (3) Oral communication- Is clear and articulate when briefing an individual or before a group on Operational issues related the network. Demonstrates effective listening by providing feedback to the speaker in such a way that it is clear that the message was understood.
(4) Problem Solving-Modifies planned actions when necessary to achieve desired results when reading and interpreting Operations Orders. Looks beyond symptoms to uncover root causes of problems when trouble shooting servers, workstations and switches.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a

Per DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, the incumbent must meet DA/DoD IT Certification requirements applicable to the duties of the position by obtaining and maintaining commercial IT Certification at the IAT-II Level within 6 months of appointment to the position.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
