Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision performing common tasks as a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator such as performing calibration operations on various types of electronic, electrical and/or electromechanical measurement systems; interpreting simple technical procedures and schematics in order to adapt them to calibration assignments; and diagnosing or repairing test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) working under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade PracticesTrouble Shooting The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE two years by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. A permanent Army employee selected for a time-limited promotion or reassignment to fill a temporary position must be returned to the position from which he/she was temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE five years, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
