Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes includes conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys for an aviation safety program; reviewing procedures for testing of aircraft to assure aviation safety standards are met; and monitoring aviation safety programs for aircraft operations AND such experience as:
Managing safety or occupational health program elements. Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management. Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. Developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. Analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards. Designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards. Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subject. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) In addition to the above, this position also requires certain selective placement factors be met. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS:
Must possess Aviation Safety Officer Certification prior to start date. (NOTE:
You must attach a copy of your certification for verification). Must have held as the appropriate certifications or ratings to the service standards, to fly military fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. (NOTE:
You must attach a copy of your certification for verification). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

$76,721 to $99,741 per year
